Reflection on Instructor Support and Development Sessions - 2025
This year’s Instructor Support & Development Sessions were some of our most engaged and collaborative yet. Across the four sessions, instructors shared practice wisdom, explored updates to CALM approaches, and strengthened skills in key areas such as regulation, de-escalation, and reflective practice.
We want to thank every instructor who joined us; your contributions continue to shape CALM’s learning community in meaningful ways.
“It was so helpful – and genuinely lovely – to meet everyone and hear the perspectives from different organisations and roles. It reminded me how much we can learn from each other.”
“I really enjoyed this session. Thank you for creating such a welcoming space to learn and reflect together.”
“Thanks for a great session. It was encouraging to reconnect, share ideas, and feel part of the wider community.”
“These sessions mean a lot, especially as I’m the only Instructor in my organisation. It’s reassuring to meet others and not feel alone in the work.”
We are happy to announce the dates for the upcoming sessions in 2026

New Course: Dementia Informed Practice – Understanding Need & Reducing Distress
We’re pleased to introduce a new 2.5-hour live online course designed for anyone who may come into contact with a person living with dementia – from bus drivers and reception staff to librarians and community workers.
This short, engaging session builds confidence in understanding dementia, recognising signs of stress and distress, and responding with compassion, dignity and simple practical strategies that make a real difference.
It’s an ideal way to ensure your staff feel informed, prepared and able to support people safely and respectfully in everyday situations.
