CALM Trauma Course

Course Overview

The CALM Trauma Course uses a holistic lens to look at the experiences and impact of trauma upon the body, the brain and our ways of interacting in the world.

The heart of the course is that an understanding of trauma is the first step in creating sensitive and responsive relationships, services and communities where recovery and equality is possible.

The course takes a close look at the principles of trauma informed practice, the understanding of self-regulation and co- regulation, and the impact of relationships on thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Trauma is recognised as something which has an impact on us all. Different types of trauma, its prevalence and our own experience and perspectives of trauma are all considered in becoming trauma aware.

How the CALM Trauma Online Course works

Our tutor for this self – study course, Lorna Walker will facilitate a gently engaging learning experience through a range of different online activities and modalities. Learners will be offered audio check- ins throughout the course and have the option of using a confidential online reflective journal to record their thoughts as well as video inputs from Lorna.

You will complete 7 self study units and a self assessment to complete the course, as well as a range of informal optional learning activities.

You will be able to work through the online units at times that suit your schedule and your preferred pace of learning.
