As CALM's Head of Professional Learning and Practice, Lorna has extensive experience working as a teacher, facilitator and wellbeing specialist. Writer and tutor of the CALM Trauma course and CALM Presence, Lorna draws on a firm foundation in practice, which she complements with ongoing learning and research focusing on self-awareness, trauma and compassion.

In our third session of the series, we will explore how our own self-awareness can lead to our ability to self-regulate and co-regulate with others when they are feeling strong or difficult emotions. Inspired by Prof. Paul Gilbert’s work on developing a Compassionate Mind we will explore different ideas and practices to support how we can care for ourselves and others in difficult times.

What to Expect:

  • Learn about the four key qualities of compassion: wisdom, strength, warmth and responsibility
  • Discover how interpersonal neurobiology helps us harness the potential of co-regulation
  • Practice regulation through activities which developed to soothe the nervous system

We hope you can join us for this session to build on your own practice of awareness and regulation and contribute to growing more compassionate communities.
